Olympics
Walt: use a plan when writing. |
Its finally here, the event i have been waiting for. I have been training for 4 years .I been practicing running and also throwing to get where I am today at
Brazil.I can't believe I have another shot to compete in the Olympics and beat the other competitors and win a gold medal.
The sport that I compete in is Javelin I like Javelin because i like throwing objects in the sky. Javelin is a sport when you run and throw and try not to pass the line. The object they use to throw is like a spear it is called a Javelin. The aim of the game is to throw the Javelin as far as you can.It has to land standing up not lying flat on the floor.
The country i represent in the Olympics is New Zealand.I will represent New Zealand because most of my family live in that country.Although i was born in a different country i still represent New Zealand.
I think if i competed in the Olympics it would be so exciting that i get to represent my country.I will be also nervous because lots of amazing competitor from around the world would be competing.I also will feel determined to try my hardest and try win.
I think the Olympic stadium would be packed with a thousand people there.I Think New Zealand's going to win shot put because we have Valarie Adams.I think that the Olympics are going to be really exciting but the athlete will be really nervous.

Activity 1: Some Olympic athletes become famous not because they win but because they have an amazing attitude and great determination. They are sometimes called ‘underdogs.’ One of the most famous ‘underdogs’ in Olympic history was a man named Michael Edwards. He was a ski jumper from England who competed in the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary, Canada. Although he came last in the event, he never gave up. Recently, a movie has been made about his life. It is called “Eddie the Eagle.” For this activity, watch the trailer for Eddie the Eagle and then post a summary of the movie on your blog. What is the movie about?

Poem
This is a poem about how i feel if i went to rio.
What do i do?What do i say?
I don't want to go back home and lose to a kangaroo that lives
in the outback.
I just remembered that there miles away.
There not really here but they see everything on tv especially me.I feel sick because the person behind me picked his nose.
Oh my gosh it feels like hell.
And the person beside me smells.
I want to yell out loud.
Sitting here thinking about what should i do should i abandon this trip or It some chips at rio.

Bonus Activity
I think that girls should be allowed to entry and compete because people just think of girls like they cant do any thing like sports.I think people back in the day are rasisct of girls its just rude if you say girls cant play sports.
Bonus Activity: During the ancient Olympic Games, men were allowed to compete in the events but women were not. In fact, women were often forbidden from even watching the games. In your opinion, is this a fair rule? Why or why not? On your blog please tell us what you think about this interesting rule.
Facts about Milo of Croton
Milo of Croton was a 6th-century BC wrestler from the Magna Graecian city of Croton, who enjoyed a brilliant wrestling career and won many victories in the most important athletic festivals of ancient Greece. He was born in Crotone, Italyand died at Capo Colonna, Italy. The date of Milo's death is unknown, but he reportedly was attempting to tear a tree apart when his hands became trapped in a crevice in its trunk, and a pack of wolves surprised and devoured him.
Activity 2: In the ancient Olympic Games the winner of each event was called the Olympionic. Instead of a gold medal, the winner had a palm leaf placed in their hands and a crown placed on their head to show that they were the winner. Arguably one of the most famous Olympionics was a man named ‘Milo of Kroton’ (see picture below). Use Google to research ‘Milo of Kroton’ and post three interesting facts about him on your blog.
